Finding The Work At Home Job: To Pay or Not To Pay? by S McIntyre
There seems to be some confusion among many newbies just coming aboard the
work at home train. I know how difficult it can be to wrap your head around
all the information provided. Sometimes it's as clear as mud and sometimes
it's just plain murky.
Let's define work at home j-o-b. Yes, that's job with hyphens in between it.
Why? Simply because you will know I mean a job that requires skills and or
experience, a cover letter, resume and an interview. You may be an employee
or Independent Contractor with a set schedule and a set wage.
It is true you should never pay to get a job. It works like any brick and
mortar. The exception to this "rule" goes to purchasing equipment to help
you perform the job properly and this may include a headset or foot pedal.
Sometimes a background check is required if you're dealing with sensitive
information, but this is done after you are hired and not before. Most
companies will pick this tab up, but there are a few who don't and there's
absolutely nothing wrong with it as long as the company is legitimate and
reputable.
Now I just said it was true you should never pay to get a job, right?
Exactly. Here is the difference and I'll explain a bit later. In most cases,
you can find jobs on your own. There are plenty of work at home sites that
provide FREE access to work at home companies and job leads. Some are
researched and most are unresearched meaning you have to do all the legwork.
What happens if you don't have the time or the resources or you're not "the
job searcher and sniff-out-scams" savvy type person? Then there is an option
for you to pay a one time lifetime membership fee to receive access to
researched and reputable work at home companies. Confused about the pay
thing? Don't be! Here's my explanation. You're not paying to get a job;
you're paying for a service; for an agency to do the legwork for you. While
there are mixed opinions on this issue, it is simply that...opinions. Don't
let someone deter or sway you. Only you know the reasons why this could be a
good solution for you.
Again, you will come across many sites who don't provide a legitimate
service. There will be some, who have a database full of jobs, but the jobs
can be found everywhere or it's not updated on a regular basis. There is one
particular site with a very good reputation, comes with good recommendations
and have been online since 1999.

Your Mom Skills Equal Business
Success by Melody Thacker
Many women today wish they could be work at home moms so that they can be
home with their children. Can your mom skills help you run a successful
business? You bet they can! Your mom skills are your best asset and will
serve you well to start and become successful at building your own business.
You already run a very important corporation, your home and family! You
organize schedules, plan events, make sure food and household supplies are
stocked, manage the budget and a multitude of other tasks every day. As a
woman and a mom you have unique talents and skills; these transfer over to
running a business quite nicely!
Before you became a mom you probably worked or went to college or a
university. You may have worked in an office or as a sales clerk in a store.
Whatever skills you had as a single woman became the foundation for your
skills as a mom. Consequently, what you learn as a mom directly relates to
what you learned long ago and when combined, can be transferred into other
areas of your life, including having a direct selling career.
I was thinking about my own mom skills today and which ones transferred into
business skills for me. I bet most of them will for you too.
Do you love learning? If you are the type of mom who enjoys learning new
things and how to be a better parent, you'll find this is an asset to your
business. It seems like there is a lot to learn when you are starting a new
business, but if you take small steps, you'll have it mastered in no time.
Do you look after the household budget? Your budgeting and money management
skills will be a real asset to your business. If you don't look after this
area, you really should learn the basics. After all, you never know what the
future holds and you might need to know this.
Do you organize your family's schedules? Most women do, so this will make
you an expert in planning and organizing your business. Your business
success depends on your making an action plan and fitting it into your
schedule.
Are you a nurturer? Most women are born helpers, so your caring, nurturing
side will enhance your customer service skills. You've probably dealt with
some grumpy or unhelpful sales people in your day to day shopping, so use
that as an example of what not to do.
Do you like meeting new people? If you are a people person or crave some
adult interaction, a direct selling career could be the solution for you. It
gives you the opportunity to get out and meet new and interesting people.
Being able to talk to people and show an interest in them is a real asset.
These are just a few of your mom skills that can make you a business success
story! If you have been thinking about starting your own business but didn't
believe you had the skills, now you know that you do. Your dream of being a
work at home mom could be a reality, if you are brave enough to give it a
try.

Balanced Life Means Happiness Happiness, the emotional goal that everyone is
seeking, is impossible if your life is out of balance. When an individual is
able to manage a balanced lifestyle, then happiness is a reward. Assisting
your team in understanding how to attain balance will not only improve your
team retention which is the goal of all leaders, and it will give the gift
of happiness to your sales consultants. This team building exercise can be
conducted on the group level at a training meeting or may be done on an
individual coaching call. Either way, the follow-up with each sales
professional is key in their ability to benefit from balancing life and
their business.
What Are Your Priorities In Life?
List your top 10 priorities in life. Many people lose track of what is
important to them. This part of the exercise needs some time and thought.
Sometimes it takes a while for an individual to remember what really is
important to them. Ask for specifics. Answers like family or making money
are not emotionally specific. Ask for answers like; my Mom, my husband, my
kids, my home business, teaching children good food choices or the like. The
list should include their emotional priorities, even if they are not
attaining them. After the list is created then it should be put into order
by importance with number one being the most important.
What Are Your Top 10 Time Commitments?
This is usually an easier list to come up with because we all know what
keeps us busy. Again, the list should be specific. For example it may
include; my job, driving the kids around, house work, etc. After the list of
the top 10 time commitments is complete arrange it in order of how much time
spent on each with the top time commitment being number one and so on, down
to number 10.
Is Your Life Balanced?
This simple exercise can be an eye opening moment for someone. It may even
change lives! When I first performed this exercise I found that most of my
time was spent at a job working for someone else. While that job at one time
was important to me, it no longer was. As a matter of fact the job was not
even on the list of the top 10 priorities in my life. As a result of this
awakening, I ended up quitting my full time job and devoted my life to doing
what is important to me.
A Congruent Life
If your life is not congruent you can not be happy. When you work through
this exercise you will find that most people are living very out of balanced
lives. A life that is not balanced or congruent will never be a happy one.
If Mom is number 4 on the list of priorities and not at all on the list of
time commitments then the individual will experience guilt. The
in-congruency will prevent them from being happy. Someone who puts their
home business at a level 3 priority yet only devotes a level 9 amount of
time, will have a hard time feeling good about themselves. In order to
achieve happiness and balance in business it is essential that you have
balance in all of life.
You Can Change Lives This exercise can change lives. Taking the time to work
through this with your team and following up on an individual level will
bring happiness and balance to the lives of others. It is a gift that you
can give to your team and change their future as well as improve team
retention.
